Key Leader in El Salvador

Kiwanis Key Leader was presented to 60 students in El Salvador on December 4-5, 2010. This was the second Key Leader event in El Salvador. Through a partnership with the Kiwanis Club-Los Robles and the UNICEF office, both located in San Salvador, Key Leader materials were translated into Spanish. This was the first time the curriculum was presented in Spanish.  The program occurred over a two-day period, rather than the normal three-day weekend format. One of the trained Key Leader Lead Facilitators from North America who is also fluent in Spanish delivered the program.

The Alicante Montana Hotel near Ataco was the site for the event, and provided a beautiful setting for the program.  Students from city neighborhoods of San Salvador really enjoyed the beautiful mountain setting and the wonderful food provided.  This group of students really benefitted from the program.  Plans for 2011 are still being developed, and include training of two Lead Facilitators from El Salvador to continue the program in future years.   Representatives from UNICEF and the Kiwanis Club are enthusiastic to continue this new service to young people in El Salvador.
