Kiwanis and Key Leader

Kiwanis international is committed to serving the needs of children. The Kiwanis presence is felt in nearly 100 nations and geographic areas worldwide. Working together, about 8,000 clubs make a difference locally, nationally and globally.

Since 1925, Kiwanis International has positively impacted the lives of young leaders through its youth leadership organizations. Many credit these programs for their first taste of leadership, including senators, governors, university presidents, corporate executives and an United States president.

In 2003, Kiwanis International assembled a task force of professionals with more than 175 years of experience in teaching, coaching, developing and encouraging young leaders. They were asked to design a program that moves beyond where most other youth leadership programs stop. The result: Key Leader.

Kiwanis International continues to support the Key Leader program, sponsoring more than 50 weekend experiences throughout the world annually. Kiwanis clubs sponsor Key Leader participants and promote the program in their communities. Many Kiwanians also enjoy volunteering on the weekend retreats as chaperones, such as those pictured to the left. Pictured to the right are many of the Kiwanis members who dedicate countless hours as Key Leader district chairs and site coordinators. Key Leader wouldn't be possible with out them. Learn more about how you can get involved!
